Janet and Family, A beautiful service for obviously a well-loved man. Jim and I appreciate the opportunity to have been part of it and more importantly to have counted Ari a friend. Our thoughts will continue to be with you all! Here is the synopsis of the thoughts we shared:

Ari & St Peter Have a Sambuca to Discuss Ari's Vision of Heaven:

- Needs to look a lot like Lake Como
- But with deep water access because all the friends that he's made around the world from many countries will be coming and they'll be coming by boats (that have no engine trouble and ample shade!)
- Soccer fields around each turn with games that never end
- Transport will be limited to bicycle, motorcycle and maybe convertibles
- There will be no driving rules as Ari never did get those
- The food (and drink) will be liberal (as will the people!). Lots of fresh seafood that's still just about swimming as it's served up
- Beautiful collies all around. And all of Ari and Janet's prior collies will be there and will all fit in the big comfortable Italian bed and will say arh roo urrr  (good night sweet dreams) in perfect chorus
- To further a good night's sleep there will be a well-stocked library with intellect-stimulating non-fiction selections as Ari's desire to continue learning is endless
- And everybody every day will do exactly what Ari wants them to do so that his stubborn streak stays in check
- And Ari says to St Peter  I know I'm asking for a lot but I know you can do it'cause this is heaven!
- And finally there is a portal so that Ari can keep a watchful eye on all the friends he has amassed over the years and most especially his beloved family through which the legend of all that is Ari lives on!

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.

I worked with Ari for many years at IBM. It was always a pleasure and his energy was contagious. We traveled together on a work trip sometime in the late 90's to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. I remember that he thought of taking a side trip to Lake Como but I believe it was in August when all of Germany would typically be vacationing so he decided it was not practical.

May your memories of Ari help to carry you through this difficult time.

We gained, not only a wonderful DIL when Terry married Shannon, but also her parents who we love dearly.  I feel so fortunate to have had Ari as part of our family, to share so many holidays and a vacation together.   Our Christmases will always  have a major gap in them.  Ari was a very special person, and we will miss him greatly.   My thoughts and prayers are with Janet, Shannon, Terry, and Eva.  I do know that God has another angel though!

Janet, Shannon, Terry, and Eva, our hearts hurt with yours in the loss of your dear Ari and of our friend, Ari. We remember a gentle Ari who loved his family, his opera, his gliding, Italian soccer and his cycling. Pam and I were sorry to learn of Mr. Ostenilli's passing. Thoughts are with all of the family.

Shannon and Family, So sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

We worked on one protect together at IBM. As it turned out it was the last project he worked on before retiring as a full time employee. I remember going to dinner in Austin, Tx after working long hours and he always has a smile and some good conversation for the dinner.

It's hard for me talk about Ari in the past tense. He was an amazing, generous, kind and intelligent person and one that has been an honor to call my father-in-law. I will miss you Ari. Riposi in pace.

It's been many years since I last worked with Ari, but I had the great pleasure of working with him for several years at IBM. He was simply a "super nice guy" and I can hear his distinct voice right now. Rest in peace Ari...

I remember a lot of fun times working with Ari on projects at IBM. He and I were two of the original team members on the Retail Professional Services team.  We learned a lot in those first few years.  Ari was a great mentor for me. Ari was always willing to jump in to a project and lend a hand to get everything on track. We definitely missed him at IBM after he left.  I am sorry to hear of his passing.  I know he will be missed by his family and friends.

I only met Ari once, as I tagged along to watch a soccer game with him, his daughter Shannon and son-in-law Terry.  He had a great sense of humor, taking my Milanista jokes about Juventino in stride.  He got the last laugh though, as Juventus won their 6th straight Scudetto on the day he passed.  Rest in peace Ari, you will be greatly missed by your family and friends.

Ciao Juventino, abbiamo vinto un'altro scudetto.  I have missed going to soccer games with Ari since moving out of NC.  Dinners, bike rides, figs, will always be fondly remembered.  Rest In Peace amico.
