Anita S. Ross, 95, went to her heavenly Father, October 9, 2021. She was born in Biddeford, Maine, moved to Florida in the mid-1950's and then to Cary, NC in 1997, to live with her son, Paul and his wife, Susan.
She is survived by her two sons, Paul and Mark, their wives, Susan and Shelley, and two grandchildren, Samuel and Madison. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Norman, and her mother
and father, lsola and Wilfrid Simoneau, and brother, Raymond.
She was a housewife who assisted her husband with their furniture refinishing business until his death in 1970. ln her mid-thirties, she developed a hobby and penchant for painting. She and a group of friends would get together socially to paint, and her work was displayed in our home and others given to friends and relatives.
Mom loved all children deeply and had a sweet disposition that created many long-term friendships. She and her husband planned to have a large family. After Paul was born, she was told that due to a medical condition, she would never be able to have additional children. However, 15 years and 2 days later, a miracle occurred, Mark, was born.
So great was her love for children, she would get excited when friends and relatives had children who would call her "Mom Ross." Her dream of a larger family was through other children. Mom was also a member and communicant at St. Michael Catholic Church. When she moved to Cary, she wanted to dedicate her time to volunteering. She went to the church office and said, "Hi, l'm Anita, what can I do for the church?" Mom was assigned to a group that placed flyers in the weekly church bulletins. She enjoyed
it so much, she named the group "The Fun Bunch" and coordinated the volunteers until 2011. That wasn't enough! Her love of children led her to another group that made teddy bears for children in hospitals. She made 1000 over the years for which she was recognized by the organization for her contribution, but
she quickly dismissed the praise by saying, "l just wanted to help the children."
Unfortunately, Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2011. When we got the diagnosis, we couldn't believe such a vibrant, loving person could lose her personality. Regretfully, Alzheimer's would prevent her from knowing her grandchildren.
Goodbye, Mom. We all love you.
The funeral service will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, located at 804 High House Rd, Cary, NC, 27513 on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 11 AM.
