William was born in 1943 in Mississippi to his parents Silas G. Wilson and Lilly Mae Wilson. After graduating from Cass High School in 1961, he enlisted in the US Navy. He completed his military education and certification at Somerset University in England. William served as Communication Security Devices Operator and Technician on US submarines and Naval vessels. After serving his country for 20 years and protecting our constitutional rights and freedoms, he retired with several decorations and distinctions in the rank of Navy Chief Petty Officer. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked at Siemens for 20 years until his retirement.
William was a faithful husband, a loving father, and a good kind-hearted man. Through his life example, he taught his children strong family values, honesty, loyalty, work ethic and to love our country. He was eager to help people in the time of need and was a reliable friend to many.
Survivors include his wife, Tatyana S. Wilson, Cartersville; his children and step-children from oldest to youngest: Chris Wilson (Marietta, GA), Chris Michener (Modesto, CA), Julie Bunch (Cartersville, GA), Ann Darnell (Douglasville, GA), Anna Lessard (Cartersville, GA), Yelena Kozenkova (San Diego, CA), many grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 3, 2022 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home, Cartersville, GA with Rev Kenny Jacobs officiating. The interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
