Mr. Ferguson was born September 5, 1933 in Paulding County, the son of the late, L.M. and Mattie (Bullock) Ferguson, was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, was retired from Delta Airlines and was a member of the Church of Christ and was a devout Christian. Mr. Ferguson was a mechanical engineer and designed aircrafts, cars and motorcycles and won several awards. He built every home he ever lived in, was the owner and founder of Ferguson Aircraft and Burnt Hickory Motocross Tracks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Phillip Ferguson and his grandparents.
Surviving is his son and daughter in law, Tim and Lavonne Ferguson of Dallas, grandchildren, Christopher Ferguson (Amanda), Carrie Ferguson Thomas (Joshua), Chad Ferguson (Ally), all of Dallas, great grandchildren, Emma Ferguson and Briauna Thomas and Presley Ferguson, his brother, Randall Ferguson of Dallas, sister, Peggy Vaughan of Cartersville, his dear friend, Angie Jones of Cartersville and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Bobby Gayton, Doug Redmond and Brent Herrin officiating.
Burial will follow in Hunt Cemetery with military rites.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
