Mrs. Wennell Ridgeway Parker, 86, of Cartersville, GA passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Wennell was born October 13, 1931 near Florence, AL to the late Mr. Febbie Lee Ridgeway and Mrs. Effie Tucker Ridgeway.
Mrs. Parker had a superb sense of humor. She was a very giving person who always put others before herself. She was committed to service in her community, doing activities such as Meals on Wheels and working at The Church Shop downtown. She also volunteered at the polls every election season. Wennell was a founding member of Heritage Baptist Church and was an ordained deacon. She helped organize and develop the children's programs at Heritage Baptist. Wennell was also an avid quilter and seamstress and a member of The Etowah Valley Quilt Guild. She was a wonderful woman who will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Arlin Ridgeway and Alden Ridgeway and sister Ila Hammond.
Wennell is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Mr. Rayburn Parker, son, Ronald Parker, of Decatur, GA, daughter, Karen Parker (Darrell Webb) of Lawrenceville, GA, son, Arthur Parker of Portland, OR and granddaughter, Claire Webb, of Lawrenceville, GA, and by her siblings Wayne Ridgeway, Winston Ridgeway and Anne Harmon.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Parker will be conducted Friday, March 2, 2018 at three o'clock in the afternoon at Heritage Baptist Church, Cartersville with the Rev. Michael Tutterow officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from one o'clock in the afternoon until the service hour at Heritage Baptist Church Friday, March 2, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heritage Baptist Church.
