Mr. Turner was born on September 9, 1931 in Taylorsville, GA, son of the late Grady Andrew Turner and Fannie Popham Turner.
Mr. Turner graduated from Taylorsville High School in 1948. He retired from the Cartersville Post Office after thirty four years of dedicated employment. He was a true and faithful servant of the Lord and a proud member of Heritage Baptist Church where he was a member of the Disciples Sunday School class. For many years, Mr. Turner and his wife, Bette Turner, delivered meals on wheels. He was a member of the Lion's Club, NARF and the Etowah-Bartow CHVA car club. His greatest joy was spending quality time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Bette Davis Turner; son, Wayne P. Turner, Jr.; five brothers, David H. Turner (Fanny Dee), Grady Wallace Turner (Ruth), Ralph W. Turner (Martha), Houston L. Turner (Mary Lee) and Daniel W. Turner (Mag); sisters, Wilma Mozelle Turner Towe (Cliff) and Virginia Turner Fulton.
He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Michael) Smith; grandchildren, Courtney (Bryan) Moore, Michael (Leah) Chitwood, II, Meagan Lieving, Wayne "Trey" (Sara) Turner III, Lauren Turner and Jacob Smith; great-grandchildren, Keirsten, Leyton, John Dylan, Mallory, Vann, Tripp, Keelie, Myles, Emily, River, Charli, Fane and Wayne "Tiv" Popham Turner IV; great-great grandson, Denver.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday the 29th of October, 2022 at Heritage Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Tutterow officiating. Interment will be private at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Trey Turner, Michael Chitwood, Bryan Moore, John Dylan Baldes, Tripp Chitwood and Leyton Moore.
Honorary pallbearers are Vann Lieving and Myles Lieving.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from twelve o’clock in the afternoon until the hour of service at Heritage Baptist Church.
