Travis was born January 22, 1972 in Marietta, Georgia son of Jimmy Vencent Davis, Sr. and the late Margaret Mae Denmark Davis. The most important thing in Travis’s life was his son Sam.
Travis’s hobbies included fishing, hunting; especially duck hunting. He loved watching Nascar and Football with Georgia Bulldogs and Miami Dolphins being his favorite teams. Prior to retirement, he proudly served over 21 years in the United States Air Force having spent 4 tours of duty overseas during wartime conflicts. He was stationed in South Carolina, California and Alaska. While he was stationed at Beale Air Force Base he served as a Game Warden. He also received numerous medals including the Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medals, Merit Awards, Outstanding Unit Award, Small Arms expert, Marksmanship Ribbon (Rifle) to name a few. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Mae Denmark Davis; grandparents, Buster & Beatrice Davis, Ethel Byrd.
Survivors include his son, Travis Samuel “Sam” Davis, Jr. of Adairsville; his father, Jimmy Vencent Davis, Sr. of Fairmount; brothers, Jimmy Vencent Davis, Jr. (Cheryl) of Rydal and Michael Vencent Davis (Iryna) of Cartersville; numerous other friends and relatives including his former wife Melissa Simerly.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at two o’clock in the afternoon with Rev. Tommy Rhinehart officiating. Interment will be in Piney Grove Church Cemetery in Acworth, Ga. with military honors rendered by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home.
