Mrs. Syble Aileen Wilson age 79, of Cartersville, passed away Monday July 31, 2023. Syble was born in Cartersville, Ga, February 16, 1944. She was the daughter of the late James Maynard Smith and Aileen Hufstetler Smith.
She was an active member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and was at church every time the doors were open. Syble was well known for her hummingbird cake, her love of church and her devotion to her grandchildren. The moment her grandchildren were brought into this world, they instantly became her pride and joy and always brought a smile to her face. To know her was to love her… She always made everyone feel so welcome, loved and as if they were a part of her family.
All who knew her will truly miss Syble. She was preceded in death by her brother Donald Smith: and her sister Vickie Moss. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Donald (Duck) Wilson; Son, Matthew Wilson and Wife AJ; Grandchildren Hunter, Micah, and Avrie Wilson; siblings Ronald Smith (Johnnie), Linda Griffith (Jimmy), John Smith (Barbara), Gene Smith (Elizabeth); and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 6, 2023 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Allen, Rev. Reggie Temples and Rev. George Gray officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 05, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The interment will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Georgia National Cemetery with Jared Moss, William Reed, Sam Wilson, Tim Wilson, Wesley Knight and Levi Camp serving as pallbearers and Daniel Heater, Scott Griffith, Ryan Griffith and Esau Moss serving as honorary pallbearers.
