Samuel A Bruno was released from his earthly bonds on Friday, November 13, 2020 to pass into the home of the Heavenly Father following a brief illness. He was born on August 3, 1943 in Old Forge, PA, where he resided until graduation from High School. Sam served in the Airforce for 4 years during the Vietnam War. He resided in the Houston, TX area for many years and his two children, Shane and April, were born there. In the early 80s, he enlisted with the Navy and served 8 years. He moved to Georgia in the late nineties and lived in the North Georgia mountains for a while and has resided in Cartersville since 2015. While living in Cartersville, he attended The Church of the Ascension and First Presbyterian. He joined First Presbyterian in 2016. Since moving to Georgia, he dedicated his time to his children and grandchildren, and recently his great grandson. He loved to bake, surprise his loved ones with cakes, flowers and balloons. He also loved growing things – at any moment you could find him with 5 or more seedlings he was growing in his home garden. Sam is survived by his children, Shane Bruno and April Allen and his sister Carol Miele of Davenport, FL. He was preceded in death by his sister Dolores Gillow and his parents, Angelo and Mary Bruno of Old Forge, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Alexis, Michael, and Autumn Bruno and Emmanuel and Eli Allen and his great grandson, Sawyer Riseden. A service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Cartersville, GA on Friday, November 20, at 2:00pm. His cremated remains will be inurned at the Georgia National Cemetery in December 2020 with full military honors.
