Okey was born on April 5, 1941 in Belle, WV, son of the late Richard D. Thomas and Mary Emily Keeney Thomas.
Okey proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for eight years during the Vietnam War as Air Police in Strategic Air Command. He went on to work for the Department of Defense as a federal agent for Defense Investigative Service. He served his country for thirty-five years in total. In his spare time, Okey enjoyed wood working, making many pieces of beautiful furniture for family and friends. Okey loved watching Gun Smoke.
OKey is preceded in death by two children, Marvin B. Thomas and Jeanette Lynn Thomas; his sisters, Betty Thomas and Patricia Gandee.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-three years, Patsy Austin Thomas; son, Charles Richard (Virginia) Thomas; daughter, Lori (Rodney) Taylor; son, Mark (Leigh Anne) Thomas; grandchildren, Jenna Thomas, Jessica Grube, Jacob Thomas, Lillian Taylor; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from four o'clock in the evening until six on Tuesday, the 2nd of January, 2024 at Owen Funeral Home
Graveside Services will be conducted at twelve-thirty in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 3rd of January, 2024 at The Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
