Michael Denny Bearden

During the early morning of April 18, 2014, Denny passed away at the home of Harold and Isabel Bearden in Cartersville, Georgia after battling extended health issues caused by COPD. Denny was 67 years old.

Denny Bearden was born in Rome, Georgia on March 5, 1947. He was the fifth child of Ruth Tibbets Bearden and Arnold R. Bearden. His brothers Harold and Lynn Bearden and sisters Sheila Welch and Gloria Damp survive him. Denny Graduated from Cartersville High School in 1965 and attended the University of Georgia before entering the United States Army.

Denny enjoyed farming, teaching, building, and genealogy. His family and grandnephews and grandnieces were the highlights of his life. To these young adults, Craeden Bearden, Peirce Bearden, Miles Bearden, Hal Bearden, Lucy Bearden, Harrison Williams, Lasseter Williams, Nick Phillips, Sam Phillips, Marcus Harrison, Taylor Harrison, Josh Harrison and Sarah Harrison, he is known as “Uncle D” the favorite uncle. Everyone on the “farm” shared his passion for life and learning as he shared his knowledge with his extended family. As a Vietnam vet he returned to Georgia to enter the construction field, farming and began teaching drafting at Cass High School. His family and many surviving friends will greatly miss “Uncle D”.

A visitation will be held at Owens Funeral Home Monday, April 21, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and a celebration of his life will take place at Owens Funeral Home Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with internment immediately following at Oak Hill Cemetery.
