Jane, the third of five children, was born to Lester and Beulah Willis on May 27, 1934. Many years later, Jane married her high school sweetheart, William Harris "Dud" Scoggins. Throughout their 64 wonderful years of marriage, they were blessed with five children, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
A woman loved by all and follower of Christ, was a member of Pleasant Olive Baptist Church. She served her community through her 27 years of service at Pine Log Elementary School. Jane enjoyed Sunday dinners with family and friends, gardening, canning, and cooking for a crowd. If you knew her, you loved her, and her delectable cakes.
Preceded in death by her parents; Lester Willis, Beulah Grace Lacey Willis; siblings, Lacey "Spud" Willis (survivor: Evelyn), Jack Willis (survivor: Lorene), Johnny Willis (survivor: Margrace).
Survivors include her husband, William Harris Scoggins; children: Michael Scoggins (Kim), Mitchell Scoggins (Donna), Mark Scoggins, Myron Scoggins (Melba), Melissa Scoggins Smith (Kerry); grandchildren: Kurt Scoggins (Lindsay), Tara Scoggins, Blake Scoggins (Ashley), Morgan King (Mack), Tyler Scoggins (Nicole), Mallory Whorton (Ethan), Alexis Hunt (Trey), Alaina Smith, Dylan Smith; great grandchildren: William Bullock, Sophie and Sela Scoggins, Porter King, Brooklyn Grace Hunt, Norah Jane Whorton, Nash Scoggins; sibling: Dora Lou Summey (Jerry), and a special aunt, Lee Etta Lacey Reece.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 8, at 11:00 am at Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Toole and Rev. Eric Elrod. Interment will follow in Pleasant Olive Baptist Church, 204 Falling Springs Rd. Rydal, GA with Rev. Derron Brown officiating.
The family will receive friends from four o'clock in the afternoon until eight on Sunday, May 7th, 2017 at Owen Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will include Kurt Scoggins, Blake Scoggins, Tyler Scoggins, Dylan Smith, Mack King, and Ethan Whorton. Honorary pallbearers include William Bullock, Trey Hunt, Stevie Bramlett, Keith Taylor, Steve Taylor, Al Willis, Michael Bramlett and Jeff Summey.
