Mary Alice Gentry

Mary Alice Miller Gentry, age 81 of White, GA passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Taylorsville, GA on November 30, 1940 to the late Arlie Miller and Lizzie Miller. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was an outgoing woman that loved her family, friends and loved meeting new people. She spent a lot of her time working in her flower garden. She enjoyed trips to the beach.

Mary Alice worked as a seamstress at Cartersville Undergarment and a waitress at Howard Johnson’s restaurant. She also worked with her late husband, Calvin at Cal-mar Services.

Mary Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Gentry; brothers, Billy, Jesse, Frank and Robert Miller; sister, Betty Miller Brigman, children, Phyllis Gentry and Robbie Paige; daughter-in-law, Cathy Popham. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Ray Popham Sr., Daughter, Darlene (Vic) Woodall; sister, Grace Burke; grandchildren, Jimmy (Kim) Popham.Jr, Clinton (Lindsey) Woodall, April (Rickey) Howard, Chase (Stephanie) Paige, Rebeca Paige; Twelve great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Mary Alice’s special care giver Ann Banks.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 30, 2022 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Brother Clinton Woodall and Rev. Kyle Coker officiating. The interment will follow at Pine Log Methodist Church Cemetery with Terry Miller, Lewis Collum, Rob Miller, Seth Miller and Ken Young serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

Flowers will be accepted as well as contributions to the Alzheimer’s Research Association may be made in Mary Alice’s memory.
