Mamie Jo lived in Bartow County all of her life and her family roots run deep throughout the county. Her education began in a one room schoolhouse on Cedar Creek Road until 6th grade. She was a 1940 graduate of Cass High School. She retired from Nantucket industries in 1984. Mamie Jo proclaimed Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was a member of Cartersville First Baptist Church since 1955 which made her the oldest living member until her passing. She loved visiting the Amish Country in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Tennessee. She said the simple lives of the Amish reminded her of upbringing in the 1920’s and the 1930’s.
