Lydia was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1914 in Cartersville, GA, daughter of the late John Henry Martin and Florence Maude Landers Martin. She married her high-school sweetheart, Clarence Paris at a young age. They raised three sons, Martin Paris, David Paris and Stanley Paris. She was a strong, loving Christian wife and mother. She raised her sons to believe in God and live a faithful life. Lydia worked at EZ Mills as a young woman, but spent most of her life helping support her family as our local “Avon Lady”. She didn’t drive, so she would walk all over Emerson delivering Avon to her customers.
Lydia was a long time member of Emerson Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, served in the WMU and always assisted with Bible School. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, where she had been the Grand Matron. She read her Bible faithfully and loved her family unconditionally. She was kind, giving and a role model to her children and grandchildren. Thank you God for blessing us with her.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence Columbus Paris (Casey); brothers, John Henry Martin Jr. and James Harry Martin; sister, Mary Louise Mansfield.
Survivors include her three sons, Martin Ray Paris, Clarence David Paris and Stanley Joe Paris; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren.
