Mr. Lloyd “Red” Vincle Collis, 96, of Mayo, Florida, formerly of Pine Log, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019. He was born in Fannin County, Georgia on February 15, 1923, he was the son of the late George Washington Collis and the late Ella Mae Wilson Collis. Preceding him in death is his wife of 69 years, Mrs. Mary Ruth Thurman Collis; two sons, Richard Collis of Lee, Florida and Wylie Collis of Lee, Florida; and his brothers and sisters.
Red served in the Army in World War II in Anti-Aircraft Artillery and was honorably discharged in March 1945. He was heavily active in his community through the masonic lodge and was considered a jack of all trades. He was the Fire Department Chief in Lee, Florida; a police officer in Perry, Florida; a security officer at various locations; and worked in construction for many years. Red enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, and working in his vegetable garden.
He is survived by one son, Ronald and Janet Collis of Pine Log, Georgia; two daughters, Joyce and Jimmy Starling of Mayo, Florida and Kathleen and Paul Albritton of Lee, Florida; sixteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 25th of November, 2019 at Pine Log United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. James Thompson officiating. The processions will leave the funeral home at twelve-thirty pm.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock in the evening until nine on Sunday, the 24th of November, 2019 at Owen Funeral Home and eleven-thirty in the morning until twelve-thirty prior to the graveside service at Owen Funeral Home.
