Leon Prince Lewis, Jr., 75, of Cartersville passed away Friday, November 28, 2014. Prince was born September 18, 1939 to the late Leon P. and Anne Sproull Lewis. He was a 1957 graduate of Cartersville High School, a 1960 graduate of The University of Georgia, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He served in the Georgia Air National Guard and was a member of Cartersville First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Paula Ponder Lewis, his daughter, Marianne Forsyth, and her husband Alan, his grandsons JT and Andy Forsyth, his brother John S. Lewis (Kerrie) of Cartersville, his sister Joanne Lewis Ridgway (Bob) of Hartwell, GA and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prince was a proud dairy farmer in Cartersville for 30 years. After retiring from dairying, he worked for the GDOT for 12 years.
Graveside service will be Monday, December 1 at 11:00 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Morton officiating.
The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home Sunday, November 30 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be Matt Averett, Danny Barker, Randall Mulkey, Joe Noble, Wiley Sutton, and Joe Tilley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cartersville First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 241 Douthit Ferry Road, Cartersville, GA 30120.
Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, is in charge of arrangements.
