Kent Lee Cochran passed away Monday, November 13, at his home in Cartersville, surrounded by his loved ones. He fought a devastating cancer diagnosis with courage and determination. A native of Bartow County, he was born the third child of Janice and the late Douglas Cochran on August 22, 1967.
He attended Bartow County schools, graduating from Cass High School in 1986. At Cass, he played both varsity football and baseball and would forever proudly proclaim "Always a Cass Colonel!" He attended Georgia Southern College and graduated from Kennesaw State College in 1995 with a degree in finance.
While at Kennesaw State College, he met the love of his life, Julie Wilson of Charlotte, North Carolina. In September of 1994, they married and had two children, Grace Kenleah and Douglas Walter Duncan
Cochran.
They resided in Cassville for several years where they attended Cassville Baptist Church before moving to Cartersville. Kent was first and foremost a loving and supportive husband and father. Always known as the "life of the party," his many friendships were marked by laughter and memories that will long be cherished. Kent was an avid golfer and an Atlanta Braves fan. His devotion to the University of Georgia Bulldogs was unwavering. His utter disdain for sports commentator Gary (F.) Danielson was intense and vocal to the amusement of both old and new friends.
Professionally, Kent's career was spent in the propane industry. As a Regional Sales Manager for the Marshall Excelsior Company, he was devoted to the company and his clients. The family would like to express their gratitude to the company for their exceptional compassion and support during this difficult time.
Kent is survived by his wife, Julie, and their children, Grace and Walt; his mother, Janice McPherson Cochran; his sisters Kelli (Tim)Thompson and Kathi (Lloyd) Scheff); his nieces, Janna Kate and Kalli Scheff and nephews: Matthew Thompson, and Zachary Thompson and Blake Scheff.
Preceding Kent in death were his father, Douglas Cochran; his paternal grandparents, Mildred and Walter Cochran; his maternal grandparents, Alvin and Cora McPherson; his nephew, Christopher Thompson.
