Julia Neel Frew

Mrs. Frew was born on August 5, 1933, daughter of the late Fred D. Neel and Vance Nelson Neel.

Mrs. Frew was a native of Cartersville and graduated from Cartersville High School in 1951 and then attended the University of Georgia. She lived in Athens, TN for many years before coming back home in 1979 to Bartow County and living on the family farm which was purchased by her father. In later years, she loved visiting her second home in Decatur, TN to go fishing with her daughter and granddaughter.

She was an American Kennel Club dog handler, traveling up the East Coast doing what she loved best. She went on to marry John Frew in 1961 and owned and operated WYXI Radio in Athens, TN and WYXC Radio in Cartersville, GA. She was a proud long time member of Cartersville First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, John P. Frew; daughter, Julie Frew-Massey (Johnny); granddaughter, Juliet Laura Massey and her special Maltese dog, Itty, all of Cartersville, GA.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her loving caregivers, Kim Jacobs and Belinda Cooley.

Graveside services will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 20th of 2019 in Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Mike Anderson officiating.
