Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Darrell Coots; sisters, Judy Ann Antrican and Lois Cummings; and her great-grandson, Christopher Adamson.
She is survived by her sons, Jim Blair (Angelia) of Allen, TX and Kyle Slone of Canton, GA; step-daughter, Brandy Forbes (Rob) of Cartersville, GA; grandchildren, Samantha Henyan (James) of Spring, TX and Emma Blair of Colbert, OK; step-grandchildren, Tripp Forbes and Clayton Forbes of Cartersville, GA; great-grandson, Winston Blair of Colbert, OK; and her sister, Brenda Gore (Sammy) of Miamisburg, OH as well as a close family friend, Steven Burkhalter of Woodstock, GA.
In her early career, Joyce was a nursing home beautician at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw, Indiana where she raised her two boys. She then worked until she was 70 with Hallmark, primarily at Walmart in Cartersville. She loved anything pop culture and had numerous entertainment magazine subscriptions including TV Guides from many years that she collected. Over the years, she collected hundreds of albums, 8-tracks, cassettes and CD’s all different genres, to most of which she knew all of the lyrics.
Joyce enjoyed board games, jig-saw puzzles, cards and was very knowledgeable in trivia. She also spent many years crocheting some elaborate works of art including blankets and tablecloths. She loved NASCAR! Joyce would record NASCAR races on VHS and then document them for future viewing.
Joyce was a member of Peoples Valley Baptist Church and especially loved her Sunday school class where she was mentored by her teacher and dear friend Mary Siniard.
Gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023 from 11-1pm at Owen Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30pm on Monday, December 4, 2023 by Davey Conn at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cartersville.
