

Mr. McBride was born February 22, 1934 in Rockmart, son of the late Arthur Ray McBride and Grace E Williams McBride.
Mr. McBride was a graduate of Rockmart High School where he played football and later graduated from Coosa Valley Technical School. Jimmy retired from Georgia Power after 38 years of faithful service as a Maintenance Supervisor. After retirement, he served as a consultant for Southern Electric where he traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico to assist in the successful operation of their local power plant. Jimmy was a devout Christian and disciple of the Lord. He was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Director. He was a proud member of the GA Power Ambassadors and a former Gideon. Jimmy’s greatest love and passion was spending time with his wife of 59 years, Joyce McBride, their children and grandchildren. Some of his favorite hobbies included fishing, hunting and traveling.
Mr. McBride is survived by his wife, Joyce McBride; daughters and sons-in-laws, Sheryl Lynne and Jimmy Edwards of Cartersville, Melanie Gay and Jay Clark of Cartersville and Susan Loraine and Marshall Carter of Woodstock; grandchildren, Bryan and Julie Edwards, Kristin and Scott Burson, Tamera and Megan Cantrell, all of Cartersville and Baylee Carter of Woodstock; great grandson, Byers Burson; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Judy and Wayne Leatherwood of Jefferson and Jane and Paul Thompson of St. Simons Island; several nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 24, 2013 from the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve McCombs and Rev. Dewey Davidson officiating. Interment will immediately follow from Polk Memory Gardens in Cedartown.
Serving as pallbearers are Marshall Carter, Jay Clark, Jimmy Edwards, Scott Burson, Patrick Jones and Jimmy Hewlett.
The family will receive friends 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from Owen Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
