Mr. Hames was born on July 7, 1943 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late Joseph Harold Hames and Lady Iris Sparks Hames.
Mr. Hames proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and received a National Defense Service Medal as well as a Good Conduct Metal. He had a passion for music and loved singing in his church choir. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a devoted Christian and a true servant of the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his wife of forty-six years, Jerry Wagner Hames.
Survivors include his sons, Thomas Hames (Rena) of Rockmart, GA and Keith Hames (Melissa) of Cartersville, GA; daughter, Wanda Olson (Randall) of Cartersville, GA; grandchildren, Stephanie Stephens (John), Jadon Olson, Aaralyn Olson, Collin Ellison, Chase Hames, Mackenzie Hames, Stephanie Holcomb (Brent), Jessica Robinson (Micheal), Brandon Holliday, Karen Lacombe; great-grandchildren, Landon Stephens, Drew Robinson, Jacob Williams, Caleb Williams and Brooklyn Bearden.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at twelve o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, November 30th in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rick Moyer officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia National Cemetery at two o’clock in the afternoon with military honors being presented.
Visitation will be held for two hours prior to service time at Owen Funeral Home.
