
James Lloyd Bates, 74 Crawfordville, GA, Passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 1st, 2017. Born in Sherwood Tennessee, to Phillip and Katherine Bates, then later the family moved to Cartersville, GA where he lived his childhood life. After marrying his former wife in late 50’s Jeannie (McEver) Bates, he moved south where he lived until his passing.
James was an outgoing, comical man who enjoyed the outdoors, farming and livestock. James was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his five daughters and two sons. Lisa (Keven) Wambles of McDonough Ga, Anthony Bates (deceased), Annette Richard, Patricia Bates, Donna Bates all of Greensboro, Ga.; Peggy (Jerry) Benoit of Athens, Ga, James (Cody) Bates of Thomaston, Ga.; James is also survived by 3 sisters, JoAnne (Charlie) Stubblefield of Sherwood, TN, (Both deceased), Phyllis (Howard) Howell of Cartersville, Ga., Kay (Robert) Crowe of Cartersville, Ga., (Robert is deceased); as well a 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; Paul Boswell , Thomas Boswell, Kaydee Boswell all of McDonough, Ga.; Christopher Wambles (Ashlee) of McDonough, Ga.; Tera (Jimmy) Leon of Greensboro, Ga.; Great-Grandchildren, Abigail Boswell, Paul J Boswell, Jr, Sayler Boswell, Colin Boswell, Bentley Boswell, LaiKyn Boswell, Cooper Boswell, Kyler Wambles, Kylee Wambles.
Pallbearers include Kevin Wambles, Paul Boswell, Thomas Boswell, Christopher Wambles, Howard Howell, Troy Howell, Ryan Daniel, and Chad Chapman.
Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, February 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens with Rev. Kenny Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow.
