Helen Clark McClure

Helen, or “Granny” as she was known, was absolutely the strongest, bravest, and most wonderful example to her children, grandchildren and anyone who knew her, She truly fought cancer harder than could ever be explained, simply because that was the kind of person that she was. Helen was an incredible mother and mother-in-law; and was the best grandmother that her seven grandchildren could have ask for. Without question, one of the greatest joys of her entire life was the birth of her great granddaughter, Jacqueline. One of the proudest points in her life was teaching all her children, grandchildren, and daughters-in-law how to play bridge! Helen was the heart of her family.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Lula Clark; sister, Lillian Clark and brother, Daniel Clark. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Roy Lee McClure; children, Kevin (Susan) McClure, Deborah (Ken) McClure Pia, Marty (Ginger) McClure; grandchildren, Brandon (Brooke) McClure, Cardie McClure, Alex Pia, Benjamin McClure, Kaylee McClure, Erik Pia and Jessica Pia; great granddaughter, Jacqueline McClure; sister, Carol (Tommy) Hardin; sisters-in-law, Janet (Donny) Hammond and Joyce McGee; special cousin and friend Jim (Iris) Deal; several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 27, 2022 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Garrett officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Owen Funeral Home. The interment will be at 9:30 am on Monday, August 29, 2022 at Georgia National Cemetery with Brandon McClure, Benjamin McClure, Alex Pia, Erik Pia and Rick Hammond serving as pallbearers, Georgia Mountain Music Club serving as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Helen’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
