Gil Spencer was born on December 16, 1938 in Uniontown, PA, son of the late Thomas Spencer and Rose Gibson Spencer.
Gil was an Army veteran. He moved to Hartwell, GA in 1983 where he owned and operated The Lawn Barn for 23 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Hartwell Golf Club for over 30 years. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, and working in his yard. He was a loving husband, Dad and Grandfather to his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Spencer is preceded in death by a brother, Harold Spencer; brothers-in-law, Ron Hensor and Bob Socoloski.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Brown Spencer; son, Gilbert Allen (Marlu Dellinger-Spencer) Spencer, Jr.; daughter, Jaqueline (Al) Fortino; step-daughters, Teresa Nash and Kathy (Tim) Cathcart; grandchildren, Bella Spencer, Ian Spencer, Gabe Spencer, Anthony Fortino; step-grandchildren, Kala Nash-Brumitt, Zach Nash, Ben (Emily) Cathcart, Adam (Taylor) Cathcart and Will Cathcart; brother, Robert (Kay) Spencer; sisters, Ellen Hensor and Linda Socoloski; sister-in-law LuEva Spencer; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 24th of April, 2023 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Josh James officiating.
