Genell Austin

She was born in Mars Hill, NC on March 28, 1945 to the late Leroy and Bertha English Chandler.

Genell is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Austin and brothers, Arylon, Lanny, Donald and Ronald Chandler.

She is survived by her daughters, Doris Ann Wheat (James) and Bobbie Ann Johnson (Anthony); grandchildren, Justin Dunn (Gabrielle), Heather Sanders (Ty), Donnie Wade (Eva), Christopher Wade (Katie), Lexi Anderson (Anthony), Morgan Sartin (Gary), Jamie Ball (Thomas), Courtney Key (Josh), and Brittany Goldman (Tyler); great-grandchildren, Lily Ann, Wesley, Karter, Houston, Madison, Natalie, Callen, Robbie, Lainey, Bayleigh, Evin, Rion , Grayson, Alaina, Coraline, Tomie, Caylin, Levi, Hannah, Carson, Brantley, Emersyn, and Gabriella; brothers, Jobie Chandler (Ginny) and Larry Chandler (Barbara) sisters-in-law, Ida Chandler and Jean Chandler; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Genell was born and raised in Mars Hill, North Carolina. She and her husband Robert moved to Georgia in 1971. She was a loving caregiver to everyone and had a heart of gold. She loved her family and was passionate about spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Genell was a member of Calvary Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening.

Gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 beginning at 5pm. A Celebration of Genell’s Life will be held at 7pm with pastor Kem Lowery officiating with special sharing by her great-granddaughter, Caylin Cox at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, GA 30120 (770) 382-3030.
