Evan Preston Maddox was born on January 27, 2002, along with his twin, Phillip Martin Maddox. When you talk about Evan, you also must talk about Phillip because they had a very special bond that only a twin would be able to understand. Evan and Phillip were born just seven minutes apart, Evan being the first to arrive. Evan and Phillip were identical and inseparable. It wasn't long before we discovered that they were 'mirror image' identical twins! They were identical but were opposite identical. If Evan grew a front right tooth, Phillip would grow a front left tooth, Evan's hair parted on the right and Phillip's hair parted on the left. They had identical personalities and as they grew they started to trick their teachers into thinking they were each other by switching shirts at recess.
As Evan and Phillip grew, they had the typical active boy injuries, breaking arms, ankles and they even both broke their iliac crest. Generally, Evan would break a bone and then within a few months to a year, Phillip would follow suit. As their mother, I was worried there was something wrong for them to be breaking so many bones and asked the doctor for bone density scans, at which the doctor laughed and assured me that their bones were fine and that the bones were strained just by the amount of growth they had both experienced. This was true, although they remained thin, in the 9th grade they grew from a size 12 boys all the way up to grown man sizes and finally settled at 36 length pants! I could not keep them in pants that fit for their ninth grad year and their tenth grade year.
Evan and Phillip both had the most tender hearts and always looked out for others. When Even was in the 10th grade, he fell in love with his sweet heart, Rosa McDaniel. They were both young but were inseparable and within a year were expecting a baby.
