Ella Mae Surratt, 89, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away On Monday, November 14, 2022 and is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She resided at Burnt Hickory Residences for the last few years of her life.
Ella Mae worked for Undergarment and First Brands (Clorox) until her retirement in 2001.
Ella Mae was a long-standing member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She enjoyed serving others and preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. Ella Mae made her family a priority and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived for many years in Rydal and later moved to Cartersville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mimie Chastain, her husband CN Surratt, son & daughter-in-law James and Carol Sue Surratt, great-great grandson Jonathan Mobbs; brothers, Harvey, Thurstain, Vester, Doyle & Paul Chastain, sisters Hattie Evans, Bertie Lee Wilson and Thelma Wilson.
She is survived by her daughter, Dian (Jimmy) Day; grandchildren, Lisa (Greg) Strain, Brooke (Ethan) Wilson, Michael (Katie) Day; great-grandchildren, Kristen (David) Mize, Kayla (Jameson) Mobbs, Ashleigh (Trevor) Martin, Jameson Wilson, Will and Allie Day; great-great-granddaughter, Kinsley Mize; sisters-in-law, Nettie Jo Guffey, Betty Jean Chastain and Faye Surratt; a great number of nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Rydal, Georgia on Saturday, November 19 from 11 am to 1:30 pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm. with Rev. Reggie Temples and Rev. George Gray officiating. The Pallbearers will be Greg Strain, Ethan Wilson, Trevor Martin, David Mize, Jameson Mobbs and Michael Day. The interment will follow immediately following the Celebration of Life Service at Oak Hill Cemetery.
