Eddie was born on July 17, 1954 in Cartersville, GA, son of the late William and Ethel Elrod.
Eddie was a hard working family man, and could always be found working on projects and attending events that his grandchildren participated in. He was a very unselfish man, who loved serving others in any way he could. He had an infectious personality and usually could be found laughing about something. Eddie was a true and faithful servant of the Lord and a proud and active member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Myrtle Bryant Elrod; sons, Shane (Jill) Elrod and Eric (Amanda) Elrod; grandchildren, Madeline Elrod, Easton Elrod, Amelia Elrod, Nolan Elrod, Jacksyn Elrod; brothers, Tommy and Bobby (Carol) Elrod; sister, Rachel Elrod; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 14th of March, 2021 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Padgett and Rev. David Baker officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The service can also be found via FaceBook Live on the Owen Funeral Home FaceBook page at the hour of service.
Serving as pallbearers are Easton Elrod, Nolan Elrod, Daryl Cline, Lamar Pelfrey, Mark Hawkins, David Hawkins, Ricky Chastain and Ricky Tinney. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy and Bobby Elrod.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation from four o'clock in the afternoon until eight on Saturday, the 13th of March, 2021 at Owen Funeral Home.
