Dwight Goss, devoted father and grandfather, loving brother, esteemed friend, and skilled home builder, was called to his heavenly home April 10, 2024 at the age of 76. He left behind a lasting legacy of love and craftsmanship that will endure through all the lives he enriched and the homes he built.
Born March 23, 1948, Dwight grew up in Emerson, GA a typical little boy surrounded by family and friends. Always a hard worker, he picked blackberries, delivered the newspaper, and even sold bibles one summer to make extra money. He later fell into what became his career - building homes with his father and his brothers. And when he eventually struck out on his own, he continued to work with his brothers in some fashion. Dwight’s greatest love, other than the Lord, was his family. And his lifelong friends were a very close second. The homes he built for families were crafted with meticulous attention to detail and quality, and he took great pride in his craft.
Dwight leaves behind cherished friends and loved ones whom he loved with all his heart. He will be greatly missed by them all. He was a devoted and loving husband for 53 years to his wife Libby (Land) Goss; he was a dedicated father to his daughters, Deanna Kitchens (John) and Regina Shaw (Jason); he was a doting grandfather to Mia and Griffin Shaw and John Robert Kitchens; and he was a loving brother to Ernie (Jackie) Goss and Mitchell Goss. He is preceded in death by his parents Loyd and Lenna (Haney) Goss; a brother, Ricky Goss; and a niece, Jennifer Goss.
Dwight’s family will receive family and friends Monday, April 15, 2024 at Owen’s Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. His memorial service will immediately follow in the chapel and will be officiated by Rev. Patrick Latham, Pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church with music provided by Don Startup, Minister of Music. Internment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens and officiated by Joe Land, brother-in-law. Pallbearers include Jerry Branton, Dan Clark, Greg Reid, Dennis Ballard, Daniel Lochridge, Jason Shaw, and John Kitchens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given in Dwight’s memory to the building fund at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 31 Douglas St., Cartersville, GA 30120.
Owen Funeral Home, 12 collins dr Cartersville, Ga is honored to serve the Goss family during this difficult time.
