Mr. Williams was born August 24, 1930 in Taylorsville, Georgia son of the late Roy B. and Lois Brownlow Williams. He was a retired Senior Tool Engineer at Lockheed Corp. and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Emerson for 57 years where he was a Deacon and was Music Director for 22 years. He was a member of the Lockheed Retiree Management Club. He was a member & Past Master of Emerson Masonic Lodge #738 F. & A.M.; member & Past High Priest of Cartersville Royal Arch Chapter # 144; member & Past Illustrious Master of Minor D. Shadburn Council # 49; member & Past Commander of Rome Commandry #8; member of Cherokee Rose Priory #56; member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple; member & Past Worthy Patron of Acworth Order of the Eastern Star. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Bernese Powell Williams in 2007; his parents, Roy B. & Lois Williams; a sister, Betty Roberson; a son-in-law, Michael Smith.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Smith of Emerson; a son & daughter-in-law, David & Anderea Williams of Cartersville; grandchildren, Dave & Stephanie Williams of Calhoun, Hannah Williams of Cartersville, Asa Williams of Cartersville, Mandy & Chris Jarrett of Taylorsville, Eric Smith of Emerson; great-granddaughter, Isabella Williams; brother-in-law, Elmer Roberson of Taylorsville; several nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Kenya Darden and Mary Kate Payne.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon June 11th at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Emerson with Rev. Doug Harris, Rev. Greg Potts and Rev. Charles Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery in Taylorsville. The body will lie in-state from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Church.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Owen Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Larry Roberson, J.E. (Cubby) Powell, Phil Shook, Ronnie Stover, Ronnie Meadows and Donnie Bagwell. Honorary pallbearers include all Deacons of First Baptist Church of Emerson and all member of Emerson Masonic Lodge #738.
