Doris Gean Matthews

Mrs. Matthews was born on December 26, 1945 in Canton, GA, daughter of the late Eugene Elmer Meade and Odessa Wilson Meade.

Mrs. Matthews graduated from Cherokee High School class of 1964. She was a true and faithful servant of the Lord and a proud and active member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. In her spare time she loved to travel and also loved to shop, especially for others. She also was an avid shopper and her favorite store was Ross. She had a very giving heart and loved to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

She is preceded in death by her first husband of forty-five years, James Jerry Matthews Sr.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Adams; sons, Johnathon (Kathleen) Matthews and James “Jimmy” Matthews, Jr.; grandchildren, Shannon Lanning, Stacie Matthews, Cole Matthews, Rory Matthews; great-grandchildren, Brady Adams, Brianna Adams and Kayson Matthews; brother, Curtis (Joan) Meade; sister, Janet (Jerry) Hyatt.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 28th of April, 2017 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Clinton Green officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery, Acworth, GA.

Friends are cordially invited to a gathering with the family from five o’clock in the evening until nine on Thursday, the 27th of April, 2017 at Owen Funeral Home.
