Debra “Debi” Diane James, age 59, unexpectedly passed away on December 29, 2020 in Rome, Georgia. Debi was born on April 8, 1961 in Atlanta, Georgia at Georgia Baptist Hospital, to Diane Brooks and the late Jerry Brooks.
Although Debi’s life was cut short, she led a full life. She raised two young men, Nick Winkles and Noah James, who were the apple of her eye. She was married to her late husband, Gary James for ten years before his sudden passing on December 27, 2010. Debi had a Christian heart and valued her relationship with the Lord. She found great joy in the company of friends, both new and old. She was a very strong and independent woman who never met a stranger. She graduated from Lithia Springs High School, class of 1979. She often shared fond memories of her younger years as Captain of the Silks, the color guard. She fostered a caring and loving home atmosphere for Nick and Noah, while also providing structure and guidance throughout their lives.
Debi always had a deep-rooted love for riding and being in the company of horses. She had a passion for motorcycles and was always excited for the next long ride on her Harley alongside friends. Debi always had a brilliant sense of style, both personally and throughout her home, although her best accessory was always her smile. Debi was an extraordinary daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Along with her sons, Debi is survived by her mother, Diane Horton; brothers, Danny (Kim) Brooks and David (Jenette) Brooks; grandchildren, Breann Winkles and Blakely Winkles and many loving extended family members and friends to cherish her memory.
