Gail Miller Arnold, 68, of Cartersville, GA passed away February 9th, 2021 of complications from COVID-19. She was born December 17, 1952 in Milledgeville, GA to Thomas and Earline Miller who resided in Haddock, GA. She married her first love, Jerry Wayne Arnold, in October of 1971 who preceded her in death in 2014.
For most of her career, Gail was a professional secretary/executive assistant to the Managing Partner of a prominent Atlanta accounting firm, to the CEO of a multi-holding company, and the CEO of large Atlanta insurance company/brokerage house. She was a Certified Professional Secretary and served a term as the President of the Georgia Chapter of that organization. She retired in 2006.
Gail was a fierce wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. Her fiery personality was evident both professionally and personally, taking great pride in supporting her family, friends, and professional colleagues.
A native Georgian, her ability to turn a phrase of Southern simile would always elicit smiles and laughter from the people around her. Whether she was telling you she was “full as a tick” after one of her amazing home-cooked meals, or tired from a day where she was “as busy as a one-armed paper hanger,” people around her were fully entertained by her wit and spirit.
Gail loved her family, the Lord, her Southern roots, the University of Georgia Bulldogs, her cat Dooley, spending time and traveling with her Sister, telling stories of their adventures, and making sure her home was properly clean for guests. She was an extraordinary cook, capable of serving a wide variety of Southern delicacies, particularly her son’s favorite, her banana pudding.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael Shawn and Holly (Firfer) Arnold of Smyrna, GA and her sister, Alisa Gaye Miller of Macon, GA.
A Memorial Service in her honor will be held Saturday afternoon March 13th at 2pm on the lawn of the Woodruff House at Mercer University, located at 988 Bond Street in Macon, GA. All attendees will be required to wear masks and maintain social distance for the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Mercer University Athletic Foundation Annual Fund in her honor at www.mercer.edu/give
