David was born on April 28, 1950 in Cartersville, GA, son of John Isaac Burns and Carol Searcy Burns.
David was a dedicated Supervisor with the Georgia Department of Transportation for thirteen years. He also worked as a maintenance techinican for the Rome Fire Department and was also a talented heavy equipment operator. He was an avid musician whom loved to play his guitar and sing.
He is preceded in death by his father, J.I. Burns and his brother, Danny Burns.
Survivors include his mother, Carol(Roland) Watts; wife of twenty seven years, Joan Herrin Burns; children, Darla Elrod, Dana Eubanks and Lea Burns; grandchildren, Codey Elrod, Alysha Elrod, Kalin Huertas, Riley Eubanks, Ashton Robertson and August Blasengame; brother, John (Beth)Timothy Burns; a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 12th of March, 2018 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. J. Clinton Green officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from three o'clock in the afternoon until six on Sunday, the 11th of March, 2018 at Owen Funeral Home.
