David Dillard Brown

David was born August 9, 1942 in Bartow County Georgia. He was preceded in death by both of his parents Charles Wesley Brown and Ella Mae Gravley; 3 siblings including 2 brothers Jimmy and Paul, and a sister Martha Frances Law (tutu) and her daughter Nevada. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 57 years Of marriage Jodeen Blazer Brown; 3 sons Jimmy David Brown (wife Sandra Brown), Larry Dwayne Brown, and Brian Wesley Brown (married to Tara Brown); 3 grandchildren Jessica Brown, Christian Marie Brown (married to Daniel Lee), and Ethan Causby Brown; 3 great grandchildren Jasmine Leona Lee, Christian Joseph Lee, Chloe Marie Lee; 1 brother in law Jerry Blazer (married to Martha Blazer); 1 beloved sister in law Janice Flora; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog Suzy.

David and his beloved wife Jodeen met, grew up, and lived on Old River Road most of their lives. He attended Cassville High School and was a graduate of Moler Barber College, University of Marietta (Business Administration), and Coosa Valley Tech (certified welding course). David was always a outgoing and hardworking man and had many careers. He served as a SP4 E4 in the US Army, stationed in Darmstadt, Germany; while there he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Sharpshooter (Rifle) Good Conduct Medal. He always had a great passion for music, played guitar, and sang country rock music with numerous local bands. Some of them being The Sounds of Time, and The Dirt Road Band. In the early 70s he started as an apprentice in the plumbers and pipefitters local 766; later joining the the local union 72, in Atlanta, Georgia where he worked for 30 years before retiring. He then went on to start his career of the next 20 years with Lockheed Martin before retiring again. While with Lockheed he received special recognition numerous times for his innovative creativity which led to him developing a tool for which Lockheed was able to receive a patent for and was an instrumental advancement to their structural assembly. He was also a team award winner for the 2004 C-130J center wing build team and was awarded Lockheed Martin’s highest honor, The Nova Award. Throughout his life he also worked at A&D Machine Shop, Atlantic Steele, Moler Barber College, Dean and Mathew’s Style Shop, Dave Wilson Electric, Amco Oil, Plant Bowen (Georgia Power), Plant Hammond, Sequoyah Nuclear Power, TVA Plant, and was self-employed at times.

David was a long time member and commander of the American Legion Carl Boyd Post 42. He was also a long standing member of the Cartersville Church of Christ, Etowah Valley Historical Society, Booth Western Art Museum, Telus Science Museum, Savoy Car Museum, and Bartow County History Museum. Another of David’s passions was bringing family together; he loved sharing time with family and planning the Brown family reunion. His personality and charisma made him a great people person and natural leader. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11:30 am on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Cartersville Church of Christ with Cory Barnett and K. Ray Looney, officiating. The interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Owen Funeral Home.
