Born July 6, 1932 in Bartow County, a daughter of the late Lillie Mae and Crawford Brock, Carol married Norman Doyle Hatfield on Christmas day in 1959 and celebrated 49 years with him until his passing in 2009. She was the mother of five children to whom she was devoted. One of the family traditions was Carol's Christmas breakfast, which began when her oldest daughter spent her first Christmas Eve as a married woman back "home," in her mother's house. Upon awakening on Christmas morning, she and her new husband were treated to a sumptuous breakfast. This tradition grew with the family to include all children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was celebrated as such for as long as Carol could host.
Jesus being her first love, has been the center of her life and the axis on which it turned, shaping every decision she made and action she took. She is much cherished and admired by her family for her devotion to His church.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by her brothers: Herbert, Rufus, and Odis Brock, and sister, as Geraldine Pope.
Surviving children include; Jennie Beck and her husband Nick, Pam Godfrey and her husband Mark, Jeffrey Hatfield and his wife Marsha, Sheila Law and her husband Dane, and Kim Hatfield; seven grandchildren: Jill Caswell, Brent Beck, Kyle Sharpe, Taylor Sharpe, Harrison Sharpe, Fisher Law and Fletcher Law, who all together gave her ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Brumbelow and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm on Sunday April 28, 2024 at Owen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held in their chapel on Monday at 11:00 am with Rev. C.E. Popham officiating. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons: Brent Beck, Kyle Sharpe, Taylor Sharpe, Harrison Sharpe, Fisher Law and Fletcher Law. Interment will follow at Mt. View Church of God Cemetery.
