Carey Heard

Carey Heard, age 62 of Cartersville, GA passed away Monday, June 12th, 2023. He was born in Cartersville, GA on May 26th ,1961 to Mr. Charlie Heard and Mrs. Helen Heard. Carey was preceded in death by his father Mr. Charlie Heard and sister Bonita (Roy Lee) Henderson. He was survived by his wife, Lisa Smith Heard, mother Ms. Helen Heard, son’s Logan Franklin Rains (Alexis) and Brandon Rains, his granddaughter Mya Lynn Rains and his two grandson’s Carter Ross Rains and Harrison Paul Rains, his sister’s Donna Heard, Cheryl (Nate) Nelson, Alicia (Daryl) Rush, his mother in law Mary Strunk, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Carey was a loving husband to Lisa Heard for 25 years. They loved working in their yard together and riding their bikes to wherever the road led. He graduated from Cartersville High School in 1979 where he then attended Tennessee Tech to play football and graduated in 1983. Carey was a loyal worker for Shaw Plant 15 here in Cartersville for 20 years. Before that he worked at Southern Color and Stuart and Stephens. Even though Carey never had any kids of his own Logan and Brandon were his sons whom he loved very much, but his grandchildren had him wrapped around his finger. Mya Rains was his first and the only girl, but she got whatever she asked her of Poppy. Ross was his partner in crime and his best buddy. They loved playing the x box together and seeing who could get to the highest level in the game. Harrison loved playing with Poppy and trying to see who could be the loudest and make the funniest faces. Carey lived a good life and loved his family with all his heart.

Receiving of friends will be at Owen Funeral Home on Friday June 16th from 6-8 pm. A private graveside will be conducted for family. Flowers can be sent to Owen Funeral Home.
