Betty Lou McPherson Gordon

She was born on February 14, 1947 to the late Hoyt and Mary Nell McPherson. Betty is also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne “Flash” Gordon; son, Nicholas Gordon and sister, Jane Creech.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Jennifer Elzey (Chris); daughter-in-law, Carrie Gordon; grandchildren, Gordon Elzey, Bristin Gordon and Riley Gordon; nieces, Melinda Creech and Melonie Barron as well as many cousins.

Betty was a faithful member of Pine Grove Baptist Church for over 50 years. She graduated from Cartersville High School and worked in Bartow County School System for 30 years as a secretary for Cass High, Woodland High and Euharlee Elementary. She married Wayne “Flash” in 1971. She was very independent, an incredible cook, loved gardening, singing, shopping and never met a stanger. She was known to her grandchildren as grandma and cherished her time with them, never missing any event they had. They enjoyed the many sleepovers, getting their nails done and shopping with grandma. She was a staunch supporter of law enforcement, especially the Georgia State Patrol where Flash retired from.

Gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 3-6pm at Owen Funeral Home. On Sunday, March 9, 2025, family will gather at 1pm with a Celebration or Betty’s Life at 2pm at Owen Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest with her husband Wayne at Oak Hill Cemetery.
