

Mrs. Stephens was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Bartow County the daughter of the late Melvin T. and Leila Mae Graves Ferguson. She was a homemaker, loved flowers, gardening and quilting, was a member of Emerson United Methodist Church and was a member of Emerson United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Alton Stephens; a sister, Bessie Tate; and a brother, Lewis Ferguson.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence and Barbara Stephens of Emerson, Ernest and Peggy Stephens of Cartersville; grandchildren, Edward and Lori Stephens, Kevin and Tanya Stephens, Lorie and Sam Owens; great-grandchildren, Emma, Tyler and Jake Stephens, Nicholas and Natalie Owens; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and T.P. McElrath of Emerson; a sister-in-law, Lorene Ferguson of Emerson; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Ferguson and Rev. Emily Case officiating. Burial will follow in Emerson Cemetery.
The family received friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 4 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Edward Stephens, Kevin Stephens, Sam Owens, Lynn Stephens, Jerry Keys and Arnold Graves. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny McElrath and Jerry Winkle.
Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
