John Ponte

John loved his family and friends, and all the dogs in his life over the years, including Buster, Roxy, Jazmin and Buddy. John was a good friend to many, an avid golfer, and a passionate fan of all the sports teams in the Boston area, especially the Red Sox. He was widely known for his positive attitude and sense of humor, and he always enjoyed a good joke.

John is survived by his wife Robin of Carson City, his daughters Michelle Boudreau of New Bedford, Massachusetts and Nicole Baker of Dayton, Nevada, his brother Richard Ponte of St. Paul, Minnesota, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Said.

As per his wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. A golf outing may be planned in the near future. His family suggests that those so inclined make a donation in John’s name to the Carson Animal Services Initiative (CASI) in Carson City, the First Tee of Northern Nevada, or the Northern Nevada Junior Golf Association to support their hosting of the upcoming Boys Junior America’s Cup to be held in Genoa, Nevada. The family also encourages all of John’s golfing friends to raise a toast in John’s honor after your next round of golf.
