Esther was born on January 4, 1924 in Ericsburg, Minnesota, and passed away on October 5, 2017 in Carson City, Nevada. Preceded in death by her parents Victor and Hannah (Erickson) Nelson; her husband of 55 ½ years, Gunnar Nilson, three brothers Frank, Carl Ed, and three sisters, Dorothy, Mildred, and Viola.
After graduating from the International Falls High School in 1942, she held a few jobs before going to work at Mando. There she met the love of her life, her supervisor, Gunnar Nilson. They got married September 11, 1943.
She then became a homemaker raising their two children. They moved from Minnesota in 1951 to Idaho, Washington in 1952, then to Calif in 1956, ending up in Minden, Nevada in 1998. Esther loved to cook, bake, sew and crochet; she loved music and learned to play piano in her forties. She also loved to dance and travel. In her later years she traveled yearly throughout Europe.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Alfonso, her son Lauren Nilson, both of Minden, NV, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
