Obituary of Don Raymond Larsen
IN THE CARE OF

FitzHenry's Funeral Home

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, great-great-grandpa, and friend. Don Raymond Larsen returned to our lord on April 23, 2022 in Carson City, Nevada. He was 89.

Don was born to Jack Raymond Larsen and Oletta Ruth Stewart in Hinkley Millard County, Utah on November 13, 1932. Don was the oldest of 6 children with siblings Jerry, James, Ruth, Neal, and Diane. Don grew up in Hinkley and in High School was the student body vice president and played football and basketball. He graduated in 1951. He married his high school sweetheart Marjorie Carol Ireland and went on to join the Army. He served from 1953-1955 in Germany. After being honorably discharged, Don and Marjorie moved to Ely, Nevada and then to Carson City, Nevada. Together they had three children; Mark Stewart, Carol Dawn (James,) and David Warren; Grandchildren Moses (Valerie,) Wade (Nicolle,) Brooke (Adam,) Melissa (Mark,) Stephanie, Ashley (Josh,) Alex (Chelsea,) and Christopher (Katherine) as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Don worked for the USPS in Carson City and went on to become a carpenter for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenter Local#971. He was on of the carpenters that worked on the Nevada Capitol building renovation in the 1970's.

In 1963, Don Married Verlene Trivett Snodgrass, blending into the family her two daughters Mary Ann (David) and Emma (Bob); Grandchildren Charise (Greg,) Shannon (Kevin,) David (Jeanette,) Sheri, Lani (Bryant,) and numerous great grandchildren. Verlene passed away in 1998. Don went on to marry Louise Kaskie and welcomed her sons Jack and Duane (Tracy) and daughter Darlene as well as grandchildren Walker (Alyssa,) Makenna, Chad (Michelle,) Raina (Blake,) Kierra (Chad,) Amber (Joshua) and many great-grandchildren. Louise preceded Don in death in 2021.

Don treated all his stepchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren as his own. He was an incredibly generous man. He enjoyed helping others and loved spending time with his family and friends. He lived in Carson City and Douglas County for 64 years, making numerous friends. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and was an avid gardener. He was a spiritual man, loved flying, enjoyed wildlife, especially bird watching, studied history, and was a lifelong reader. His brother Neal said "Don was always the best brother, dad, grandpa, and friend. His oldest grandsons Moses and Wade stated "We were lucky to have a grandpa like him and we were fortunate to have him for a long time. We have so many great memories and he checked all the boxes for the greatest grandpa." Don was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Graveside services are scheduled for September 10, 2022 at 1 pm at Eastside Memorial Park, 1600 Buckeye Road, Minden, NV
