William "Bill" Key

Bill Key went home to be with the lord on November 24, 2010. He was a loving, compassionate husband, dad, and papa. Bill was born in Port Author, TX on November 5, 1944. He accepted Christ when he was 11 years old. Bill married Joyce Russell on May 6, 1967. The couple went on to actively serve the Lord at Valley View Baptist Church for the past 30 years. Bill enjoyed spending time fishing and telling stories to his grandchildren or anyone else who would listen.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Helena; father, Robert; and bother, Bobby. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Joyce; sons, William Key of Allen, TX, Troy Key and wife Laura of Murphy, TX; daughter, Jennifer Smithwick of Temple, TX; grandchildren, Tyler Key, Megan Key, Taylor Smithwick, and Morgan Smithwick. Pallbearers include nephews Steven Key, Danny Key, Matt Key, Andy Key, and Gary Cobb, as well as, Jimmy Smithwick. Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International (Gideons.org) or Valley View Baptist Church, Farmers Branch, TX.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday November 26th at the Rhoton Funeral Home with funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 27th in the Chapel of Rhoton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Restland Memorial Cemetery.
