Wesley was born on September 23, 1929, son of the late Aaron Alexander and Anne Gabel Wright and brother of the late Dale and Pat Wright and Betty Burzlaff. Wesley was the husband of the late Georgina (Jeanie) Clara Wright and is survived by their four children: daughter Linda Todd and husband David of Coppell, TX, son David Wright and wife Deborah of College Station, TX, son Larry Wright and wife Marcia of Tulsa, OK, and daughter Lori Mullen and husband Bryon of Spring, TX.
Wesley is survived by nine grandchildren: Brandi Todd, Michael Todd, James Wright (Lindsey), Jennifer Corgan (Chance), Samantha Grant (Jake), Danielle Wright, Cole Wright (Jordyn), Kelly Mullen and Katelynn Mullen and seven great-grandchildren: Addison, Avery and Aubrey Wright, Abigail and Luke Grant, Allayna Wright and Dakota Corgan.
Born as a farmer's son in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, Wesley graduated from Washakie County High School in Worland, Wyoming in 1948. Upon graduation Wesley began his career with Mobil Oil until he enlisted in the Air Force. While in the Air Force he and Jeanie married and resided at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois where he was a communication trainer. After his discharge Wes and Jeanie returned to Worland where he resumed his career with Mobil Oil. In 1964 Mobil transferred Wesley to Dallas, Texas where he became a Communications Center Supervisor. During the later years of his career Wes and Jeanie spent three years in Saudi Arabia while Wes worked for Mobil Pipeline. While working in Saudi they were able to use their vacations to travel through many parts of Europe. Wes retired in 1991 and they fulfilled their dream of building a retirement home on Lake Catherine in Arkansas while spending their summers in the area of his childhood home in Tensleep, Wyoming. In 2004 they returned to Carrollton, TX to be near family.
Wesley grew up with horses and never lost the desire to ride whenever possible. He always had a story to share about traveling the area around Tensleep on horseback or packing on horseback in the mountains for camping, hunting and fishing. Both Wes and Jeanie loved their Big Horn Mountains and spent as much time there as possible enjoying the area with their family and friends. They also loved square dancing and found places to dance all around the US and even in Canada and Saudi Arabia. They traveled extensively in their 5th wheel RV across the nation from Pensacola, Florida to Fairbanks, Alaska and many spots in between while visiting their children and grandchildren along the way.
In his (almost ) 93 years, those around him learned from his example of hard work, dedication, sacrifice, love of family, love of life, his positive nature, and his unwavering faith in Jesus.
Wesley loved his family and beamed with joy every time he interacted with his beloved grandchildren. Through the years he attended an untold number of activities his children and grandchildren were involved. He rejoiced in their triumphs and sympathized with their sorrows and was always the first to celebrate a birthday or special event with a very carefully selected Hallmark greeting card.
Wes was devoted in his Christian faith and cherished his relationship with the Lord. He was always involved with his local Methodist Church no matter what part of the country (or countries) he was in. He was a greeter/usher for several years at Aldersgate and for sure there are many that will miss his Sunday morning hugs.
The world is a better place for him having been here. He will be remembered and he will be missed!
