Tom was born in Dallas, TX on January 19th, 1944, to Zem and Ruth Howard. He was a graduate of Carrollton High School in the class of 1962. Tom was married to DeeDee Howard on July 12th, 1975; they were married 42 years.
Tom worked as a Postal Worker for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 2003. He was an outdoorsman, avid star gazer, voracious reader, artist and loved all manner of movies ranging from the old cowboy westerns to all genres of science fiction. He was also actively involved in regular meetups involving lively conversation and good food with his beloved classmates “The Geezers” and could be found with family most mornings, typically over a cup of coffee and a plate of eggs and bacon at Bic’s, Pete’s Café or The Dallas Diner.
Tom is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy “DeeDee” Howard, mother, Ruth Kelley Howard, and his father Zemry “Zem” Howard.
Tom is survived by his sister Maxine Powell, brother in-law George Powell, brother in-law John Palmer, sister in-law Judy Palmer, niece Kathy McVey, nephew David Powell, niece Shannon Palmer, nephew Joe Palmer, cousin David Kinder, cousin Jeanine Park and many other close family and friends.
A visitation for Tom Howard is scheduled for 5-9pm on Monday, June 3rd at Rhoton Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 10am on Tuesday, June 4th at Rhoton Funeral Home’s Chapel.
