Sam was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 26, 1936 to James and Mary Burel. He graduated from Fulton High School and continued his education at the University of Georgia in Atlanta. Sam was married to Barbara Ann Bryant on August 18, 1956 and the two were married for 67 years.
Sam worked as a sales manager for RTI Trucking for 18 years. He was an avid golfer and member of Gateway Church.
Sam is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Burel, children Bryant Burel, Alicia Jackson (Wayne), Phyllis Copeland, grandchildren, Matthew Jackson (Amy), Steven Jackson (Claire), Cortney Copeland, Casey Copeland and six great grandchildren.
A committal service will take place on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 2:45pm, lane 1 at Dallas- Fort Worth National Cemetery located at 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy Dallas, Texas 75211.
