Ruth was born in Dallas, Texas on April 26, 1945. Her parents George Taylor and Leona (Melton) Pierce, husband Roy, and brother George Taylor preceded her in death. She is survived by her Children, Jodie Skiles, Stacey (Beck) Reed, Georgia Beck, and Roy Nichols. Grandmother to Brandy Rogers, Nikki Vedro, Kristin Elizalde, and Garrett Palmer. Great Grandmother to Landon Rogers, Cooper Rogers, Abigail Vedro, Madeline Vedro, Cambry Rogers, Stephen Vedro, Audriana Elizalde, and Witten Vedro. Ruth is also survived by her sister Sue Florey.
Ruth was a wife, mother, and small business owner. Her nickname was Rooster, which her father gave her. She had a contagious smile with big dimples that would light up a room. She was very creative and a do-it-yourselfer. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, garage sales, reading books, and repurposing junk into treasures. She thrived on DIY house and yard projects. She provided a home where all were welcomed, and the neighborhood children would gather.
During Ruth’s business career she was a bartender and small business owner. She co-owned the “Golden Chalet”, a small restaurant in Grand Prairie, TX. She was the owner of the “F Troop Lounge” a tucked away pub that served drinks and Southern home cooked hors d’oeuvres in Grand Prairie, TX. Her finale in the business world was a nightclub in Arlington, TX. filled with live bands, country music, dancing, food, and good friends. She called it “Taylor Country”, in honor of her family name.
Ruth lived every stage of her life to the fullest and will forever be in our hearts. She will be missed as a Mother, Memaw, and Friend. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will be a treasure.

Ruth was a true gardener at heart, with a green thumb. She loved to work in the yard, feed the fish in her hand-built pond, and animals of all kinds. In memory of her, the family will plant Magnolia trees. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in her memory, we will be accepting contributions for the purchase of Magnolia trees.
