Richard Turner Swink was born in Honey Grove, Texas on March 31st, 1930. He passed peacefully on May 22nd, 2023. Born to Elvin and Annie Swink he was one of twelve siblings, ten brothers and one sister (whom he still lovingly referred to as “Sister”).
Whether he was working on the farm as a young boy, serving his country in the Army or providing for his family as a carpenter, Richard loved to work with his hands and always did so with a happy heart. He was loving, patient, kind and often shared his skill and knowledge with his children, friends and even strangers. Not that he ever knew a stranger!
Richard was a humble and loving servant of the Lord. He led by example, always showing his children and the world how to share God’s love with others. He raised his children in the word of God, reading the Bible to them and teaching them about God. He was a man that was slow to anger, quick to forgive and always loving.
We are comforted in the knowledge that he has laid his treasures at the throne of God - in exchange for a crown - and is living forever in the presence of the Lord. Singing loudly with the other angels and probably still making up his own words as he goes.
He is survived by his six children. Vivian Wood and husband Steven, Rhonda Clark and husband Steve, Tammy Emmert, Terry Swink and wife Judy, Deborah Slayter and husband Kevin, Kristy Sweeney-Kee and husband Stephen. Grandchildren Amy Wood, Gina Dailey and husband David, Rachel Wood, Landon Slayter, Stevie Swink, Cameron Slayter and wife Sarah, Zachary Slayter and wife Rachel, Nathan Sweeney, Kathryn Caudle and husband Chad, Julia Sweeney, Sarah Sweeney, Seth Kee and Liam Kee. Great grandchildren Alex Wood, Ayden Harris, Ava Dailey, Autumn Dailey, Riley Slayter, and Peter Slayter.
