July 10, 1931 – January 8, 2020
Mary A. Welch, born Mary Agnes Brindley, 1931 in Irving Tx, to Lillie Story Brindley & Ed Brindley. A Great Grand Daughter of Ike Story and Grand Daughter of Dick and Emma Story of Irving, TX. As a young woman she married Roy Rogers Jr. (deceased) of Irving, TX. She and Roy Jr had 5 children.
Mary loved being a mom, wife, and grandmother. She was a caring mom who enjoyed her children but did not let that interfere with discipline when required. She was a fierce protector of her children and would stand up to any foe to protect them. She was fun and fun loving and made our home fun. In-the-midst of raising her children, she took classes to become a keypunch operator and juggled the demands of being a mom and wife with a demanding job. In the capacity of keypunch operator, she worked at two different companies: Combined American Insurance, and National Chemsearch – where, after 25 years, she retired from the World Headquarters in Irving, TX. She was well respected in her work by her superiors, coworkers and cohorts.
In her later years, she married James Welch and moved to Austin, TX. She enjoyed traveling with Jim in his work as a Nursing Home Inspector. After Jim’s retirement, they moved to Mineola, TX and enjoyed traveling with Texas Baptist Men building churches and other structures.
Many have been touched and blessed by the strength and essence of our Mary Agnes. She will be missed, as we look forward to our reunion with her in the presence of our Lord in Glory.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband James (Jim) D. Welch, son Roy Rogers III, and Baby Rogers. She is survived by 3 daughters, Becky Grimes of Gun Barrel City, Julie (Steve) Whitten of Carrollton, Bonita (Pat) Jones of Azel; daughter in law Priscilla Rogers of Irving; 4 grandchildren, Bo Rogers, Connie McKeever, Casey Rogers, and Libby Sharp; nine great-grandchildren, Cohl, Faith, Caswell, Cherokee, Mason, Kaycee, Karma, Lillie, Anthony, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
